Hello, friends! CS News Live here! In today’s video, Valve might cancel RMRs, Drillas could face a ban, and AI is taking over CS2. Plus, we have results from the Elisa Masters Espo and more exciting news!
Let’s start with David Beckham. You may know him from football, but he owned Guild Esports, which included former Bad News Eagles players in their 2022-2024 CS2 roster. Beckham recently sold Guild Esports to DCB Sports for around 100,000 pounds. It’s a cautionary tale about investing in esports if you’re unfamiliar with the scene.
Next, we looked into which academy teams produce the most graduates in the top 100 teams worldwide. Mouz leads with 11 graduates, followed by Spirit Academy, Ninjas in Pyjamas, FURIA, and Na’Vi, which has developed stars like Monosie.
Eternal Fire, after a scandal involving banned players, shut down their youth roster and relocated from Turkey to Hungary due to financial issues. Sponsors leaned more toward Valorant, but their current lineup remains unaffected.
On to Valorant news: Chet, a former coach, was banned for sharing an old training clip on his stream. Riot claims sharing VOD clips violates confidentiality. This sparked discussions, as Riot doesn’t provide proper replay systems.
A major scandal recently rocked Steam: the person with the highest Steam level was banned, locking out his $200,000 inventory. Fortunately, after contacting Valve, he was unbanned, proving high spenders can sometimes get special treatment.
In roster news, The Drillas, a team led by streamer OnyPixel, made changes that might force them to switch regions. However, Perfect World and Valve approved the substitution, causing debate within the community.
Guardian, the legendary sniper, was recently pulled from coaching to play again, delivering an insane performance that led his team to re-sign him as a player.
HLTV reports that RMR tournaments might disappear, with majors now featuring 32 teams. The first event using this system could be the Blast Austin Major 2025. HLTV also teased AI integration in its future rankings to measure aspects like timing and grenade usage.
AI in CS is becoming a reality: YouTuber Basically Homeless built a robot that plays CS2, a project three years in the making. It’s an exciting step forward, and maybe we’ll even see this robot at a future Blast event!
Lastly, S1mple is set to play his first match since returning to CS on October 21, 2024. He’ll face 3D Max with Falcons in the Thunderpeck World Championship, and fans are excited to see him back in action.
Virtus.Pro also made headlines with their $1 million purchase of Electronic from Navi, though performance hasn’t quite met expectations. The team’s leadership decisions may continue to haunt them.
In the tier 2 scene, Elisa Masters Espoo saw Mongols dominate Group A, while Ninjas in Pyjamas were eliminated. Heroic, 9Z, and ENCE lead Group B. At the RESS Regional Championships in Belgrade, Sangal leads Group A, and Fnatic tops Group B.
ESL also announced its 2024 schedule, with most events remaining unchanged. The finals will all be best-of-five, while ESL Pro League will drop to 24 teams using the Swiss system.
