Valve has released a major update for CS2, but it’s not the long-awaited operation — it’s a battle pass called “Armory.” Although some fans were hoping for more, the update brings exciting new skins, collections, and customization items. Three collections were added: Overpass 2024, Graphic, and Sports and Field. The Overpass collection includes skins for AK, AWP, and Zeus, and its name hints that Overpass might return to the map pool soon. The Gradient M4A1S Fade is a highlight of the Sports and Field collection. The update also introduced new charms, including mini versions of weapons and agents. However, there’s a catch: adding charms may reduce FPS by 10-15 frames per second.
Stars for the battle pass now need to be earned through gameplay rather than bought, with up to 200 stars available. However, players may not get back all the money invested, as the skins might not hold high value.
In addition to skins, some gameplay tweaks were introduced. Valve fixed broken map spots, including a significant bug on Ancient, and addressed FPS drops when players were in water. Italy also made a return to the competitive map pool, though not for Majors. However, the community’s reaction has been mixed. While some are happy about the update, others, like Perfecto, are frustrated with the lack of gameplay improvements, calling out Valve for focusing on skins. On the other hand, streamer JoJo defended the developers, pointing out positive changes like improved responsiveness.
Moreover, bugs have been an ongoing issue after the update. Initially, snipers had no crosshair in the scope, but this was quickly fixed. A more bizarre bug caused bullet traces and weapons to turn into flying error messages, making the game feel like a comedy-horror.
On the professional side, JL ranked his top five CS2 players, with Monacy in first place and Simple at the bottom due to CS2 achievements. Fallen also shared his tier list for the upcoming IEM Rio, placing Na’Vi, G2, and Vitality in the S tier. Meanwhile, Team Spirit declined to participate, opting for additional training instead.
Finally, for those looking to grab a battle pass without spending money, CS News Live is giving away 50 battle passes on Twitter.
