Some breaking news has just been revealed. As of right now the source code behind TF2, and CS:GO (from way back in 2017) has been leaked to the public. Today we are going to be taking a look at what this means for the players, and what comes next.

@2Eggs took to twitter and chronicles the whole situation of the leak. Tyler McVicker, the man behind Valve News Network (VNN) had access to the source engine license. It was used in a source engine modding community titled “Lever Softworks”. One of the employees, who will remain anonymous for now, was fired and subsequently leaked the source codes of Team Fortress 2 and Counter strike.

Many looked to Tyler McVicker about the leak, some blaming him for the situation. In a statement McVicker denied such claims and explained the story. Now that we covered the basics, what exactly does this mean for the future of TF2 and Counter Strike?

This means that there is going to be a huge surge in cheaters, and hacking in these games considering this is a much more intrusive way of manipulating the game. As of right now it is advised NOT to play Team Fortress 2 in particular, as there could be some malicious code, and while you are at it stay clear of counter strike as well.

This situation might also push Valve to release source 2 much earlier than expected for damage control reasons. To finish off the video, here is a clip of Tyler talking about the situation, and what is to come next.
